TIMPERLEY Cricket Club’s first XI won at Grappenhall on Saturday in the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division.

Timperley were invited to bat and scored slowly throughout their innings to eventually post 209-6 in their 55 overs.

Opener Danny Cooper batted patiently for 97 and missed out on his century in trying to accelerate the score in the closing stages.

Tyrone Lawrence (24), Craig Grindley (27) and Nathan Brown (24) provided valuable support to Cooper in the middle-order.

Timperley’s score might have been higher but for their ability to hit fielders with good shots.

The innings was marred by a serious finger injury to Pennington while bowling that ceased his participation in the game.

In reply, Grappenhall scored 93-9 being unable to withstand some straight, hostile, fast bowling by Jack White, who took a season's best 7-55 to set up victory.

He was well supported in the field, with Chris Canning taking three chances behind the stumps. Rudolf Brenner took the other two wickets to close out the game.

The third XI played Disley and failed to defend 148 (Aaryan Godhamgaonkar 39).

Disley won by four wickets after looking to be in trouble after Din (49), batting at three, was dismissed, but Wood, at six, scored a rapid 49 to regain the initiative. Patel took 3-4 late on but it was too little, too late.

On Sunday, the fifths played Ashley and won a tight encounter by one run.

Batting first, Timperley scored 162 all out with Godhamgaonkar belying his youth with a patient 65 at the top of the order. He was well supported by Ali, with 32.

In reply, Ashley scored 161 all out, losing their last wicket in the final over.

Taking the bowling honours were juniors A Hasan, with 4-12, and Godhamgaonkar (2-27).
