FOR the past 12 months Championship Rugby League Club Swinton Lions has been playing out of Heywood Road, Sale - and enjoyed playing some great games including World Champions Wigan Warriors.

On Saturday, March 18, 3pm Kick Off The Lions will host London Skolars in the 4th Round of The Ladbroke Challenge Cup.

The Challenge Cup is the premier cup competition in rugby league and Swinton Lions are looking to make their way in the competition, first they face a stern test against London Skolars, who play in the league below.

There will be lots going on with half time entertainment fun for all the family, from a cross-bar challenge for the chance to win a signed ball and tickets to interviews from the players.

Rob Parker, ex-super league star and now general manager of Swinton Lions, commented that match day at Heywood Road has become the place to be in Trafford on a Sunday for all rugby fans: “We have had a very competitive start to the season and certainly 1000 plus crowds ensure a great atmosphere.”

“The Challenge Cup is a fantastic competition and a proud day for all players to take part. We would love to see more of the community coming to watch a game and what a great fixture to start.”

Captain, Andy Thornley, said: “We love playing at Heywood Road the fans are so close it makes for a great atmosphere, add to that the magic of the Challenge Cup and you have a great day out for everyone.

"If we have a successful day and win we have got a great chance to draw a Super League team in the 5th Round, hopefully again at Heywood Road.”

Ticket prices for the fixture are £12 Adults £10 Concessions and Kids under 16 just £2.
