URMSTON Hockey Club men’s seconds moved up to third place in North West Hockey League Division Five North South last weekend after an emphatic double-header triumph in which they scored 12 goals.
The Greens triumphed 4-1 on Saturday against Fylde men’s seconds before running out 8-1 winners in their rearranged fixture against Salford University men’s first team.
Two pairs of brothers netted over the weekend with Owen and Lewis Monk, and Matt and Dan Downes among the goals.
Saturday’s man-of-the-match Ric Clarke scored on Sunday with Owen Monk picking up Sunday’s gong.
Elsewhere, the men’s firsts' Division One promotion chase faltered as they were held 2-2 at Wigan men’s firsts.
Andy Power opened the scoring and Sean Barrett equalised after two late controversial goals for the home side frustrated the travelling Greens into a draw.
The ladies’ firsts game was frozen off.
