URMSTON Hockey Club men's seconds captain Sam Brocklehurst stepped down last weekend and the team treated him to a dominant 7-1 farewell victory over Bolton men’s thirds.

Andy Power scored four on his return to the club with Rob Skelley and Dan Downes weighing in with the other goals as they continue their hunt for promotion.

The ladies’ seconds did the Didsbury double as they beat Didsbury Northern's sixths 6-1 and fifths 2-1 over the last two weeks.

Opposition’s player Moe Rothwell netted a brace against Didsbury’s sixth team while Charlotte O’Toole helped herself to four goals and Becky Shepherd was voted players’ player.

Shepherd picked up the opposition’s player against their fifths this weekend with Danielle Harvey finding the back of the net.

The ladies’ thirds fell 6-0 to league leaders Didsbury Greys seconds, maintaining the pacesetters' run of not conceding any goals.

Maxine Dodd selflessly stepped between the sticks and was at the heart of Urmston’s better play alongside defensive stalwart Cas Butcher.

Players’ player Megan Whitely embodied the Greens’ tenacity and determination as the team battled against very strong opposition.

The result comes on the back of last week’s 3-1 win as the thirds dispatched Didsbury Northern sevenths 3-1.

Katie Bibby made a spectacular debut with sisters Faye Wilson and Grace Wilson finding the net yet again.

Amy Stanley completed the scoring as she picked up the players’ player and opposition’s player awards for her stellar display.

Newcomer and captain’s player Tim Querloiz showed his early promise for the men’s thirds but the team lost 5-0 to Leigh firsts.

The cold weather called off the ladies’ firsts game last Saturday but they were unlucky to lose 5-4 the previous weekend against Oldham firsts.

In a closely-matched game, Urmston battled hard with Danielle Harvey bagging a brace alongside goals from Halle Sadri and Becky Crossley as the Greens were unlucky to leave empty-handed.
