IT was all smiles for Urmston Hockey Club's ladies’ section as the top two teams romped home with emphatic wins.

Travelling to a notoriously difficult fixture at Prescot firsts, the firsts ran out 5-0 winners with Halle Sadri, Becky Dean, Rachel Kelly and a brace for Stacey Bell completing the scoring.

Isobel Povah capped her players’ player and opposition’s player performance with a goal as the seconds beat Oldham 5-1.

Captain Moe Rothwell also netted alongside Danielle Harvey and there was a brace for Charlotte O’Toole as they moved up to third.

Andy Power netted a brace and won the man-of-the-match award on his return to the club as the men’s seconds beat Golborne 4-2 with in-form Ric Clarke and Rob Skelley both netting again.

The men’s firsts went down 3-1 to Blackpool firsts with Andy Wilson’s determination grabbing the Greens' only goal.

With both Keswick and Bowdon also losing, however, Urmston remain top of the tree for Christmas with defender Luke Taylor impressive as man-of-the-match.
