URMSTON cousins Arin Sekirden and Liam Husband both won gold at the  British Wrestling Championships in Bolton this month.

After both scooped gold at the Derbyshire Open last month, they repeated their success with Arin winning gold in the 27kg category and Liam taking top spot at 31kg.

Nine-year-old Kingsway Primary School pupil Arin is now the English and British champion – titles he has won inside 20 months of taking up wrestling.

His impressive form saw him win all his matches in Derbyshire and Bolton without a single point being scored against him.

In five competitions in 2016, Arin has won four gold medals and lost just one match – and that was against Liam.

Liam, aged eight from Woodhouse Primary School, has won three golds, one silver and one bronze this year.

The cousins train four times a week at Manchester's Y-Club and Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club and also have private lessons with former World of Sport star Marty Jones.

They have also been selected to start training with the regional development squad in the new year by head coach Jesse Bradbury which they are both excited about.

Speaking about Arin's progress, head wrestling coach at Manchster Y-Club Dale Murray said: "Arin is a dedicated athlete who trains on regular basis.

"He has had a lot of success in Olympic freestyle wrestling in a short period of time due to his hard work and desire to do well.

"Arin has a lot of ability and is respectful to and listens to all the coaches.

"He is a pleasure to coach and has a big future in wrestling ahead of him."
