TRAFFORD crashed to a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of an impressive Lancaster City outfit in the Evo-Stik First Division North at Shawe View on Tuesday night.

It was a blow to Tom Baker's side after a convincing 6-0 home win against Goole when Aaron Burns smashed the club’s individual scoring record by bagging all six goals.

After a closely-fought opening on Tuesday, the visitors assumed control with Gavin Clark and Craig Carney going close before Oliver Crolla fired them ahead in the 38th minute with a crisp low drive from 20 yards.

And Crolla struck again just four minutes later when he netted at the back post following a great cross by Billy McKenna.

Russ Saunders produced a smart save to thwart Jacob Davis shortly after half time but when Trafford failed to clear a right-wing corner in the 54th minute, Davis rose to power a textbook header into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.

Nicky Platt reduced the arrears on the hour with a thunderous drive into the top corner from 30 yards but six minutes later the scoring was completed when a quick break by City ended with Carney expertly lifting the ball over the advancing Saunders.

Substitute Louis Mayers should have made it five when he headed wide from eight yards but the visitors were delighted with the 4-1 scoreline that was just reward for their superiority.

Last weekend it was a different story with Burns opening his account just 12 minutes in.

He added to it on 32 minutes before completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot just after the hour mark.

Further goals for Burns came on 71, 73 and 83 minutes as he completed a double hat-trick.

Burns's six-goal blast means he now holds the individual goalscoring record in a single game for Trafford, surpassing the five scored by Chris McDonagh last season, Shelton Payne in 2013 and Michael Oates in 2012.

Trafford will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they travel to Hyde United, kick off 3pm.
