BROOKLANDS first XI got back to winning ways in Cheshire County League Division Two with a comfortable 91-run victory at home to Lindow.

Batting first, Chris Hart (58) showed his talent with able support at the end from wicketkeeper Doug Whyley (29 not out), while the middle and lower order all made contributions.

Visiting wicketkeeper Richard Robinson took three catches and a stumping as Graham Clinton took 3-41.

In reply, Caleb Jones' recent hard work in the nets paid off as he bowled 13 overs taking 4-28, wiping out the Lindow middle order as they were all out for 93, with good assistance from youngster Raj Singh (3-18).

The win leaves the Bears third but as they are 68 points behind second with five games to go, promotion looks a long shot.

The second XI had a losing draw at Bowdon, who scored 197-4 batting first, reaching 170-9 in response.

They are fifth in the league, 51 points behind second.

A makeshift third XI suffered a disappointing loss at Disley second XI.

Elliot David (3-18) and Cameron Buchan (3-32) helped to bundle the hosts out for 127, wicketkeeper Will Ritchie (39 in 29 balls) playing an important role.

However, only Oli Bowden (43) put up much resistance as Brooklands were all out for 107, Simon Lomas achieving figures of 5-45.

The fourth XI enjoyed the better of a draw against local rivals Ashton on Mersey on Sunday.

Batting for 40 overs, Brooklands scored 244-5 with Mark Bloomfield getting 116 supported by captain Rohin Jairath's 40. Mersey pulled up 100 short but only lost five wickets.
