TRAFFORD Athletics Club will be hosting the 100th British Milers Club Grand Prix meeting at Longford Park on Saturday, August 20.
There will be more than 20 track races from 800 metres up to 10k and more than 300 athletes have entered the event.
The club has attracted some of Britain’s top athletes plus a large international contingent.
“We always seem to get a lot of interest from European runners; this year we have athletes competing as far afield as Spain, Norway, Denmark and Finland. There is even a squad coming over from Malta,” said Stephen Green, of Trafford AC.
Among the British athletes competing is GB 800m runner Alison Leonard of Blackburn and fellow rising star Jake Wightman (Edinburgh) both go in the 1500m.
Wightman and Leonard both represented GB in the recent European Championships in Amsterdam.
Also racing over the metric mile will be 2008 Olympic 1500m finalist Andrew Baddeley.
The meeting starts at 4.40pm - admission for spectators is only £5.
