SOUTH Trafford Raiders rugby league side beat Saddleworth Rangers to win the under-15s' North West Development Cup in Rochdale.

The Altrincham-based junior side were impressive as they beat the previously unbeaten league leaders 22-14 on the day.

The club currently runs a total of four junior teams from u12 to u15 age groups in the North West Counties Junior League as well as a newly-established development side for u10s and u9s.

The Raiders have progressed well just five years after being founded and only three years after first entering a team into the league.

The club’s teams have registered impressive victories against sides with long and illustrious histories in famous rugby league towns such as Wigan, Warrington and St Helens.

The Raiders enjoy strong links with, and support from, Super League’s Salford Red Devils, through the Red Devils Foundation.

At present the club’s teams play home matches at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College.
