BROOKLANDS Cricket club's first XI lost out to the weather away at Middlewich and only played 33 overs.

Middlewich scored 111-3 in that time, AJ Hart taking 2-33 to climb to second top wicket-taker in the whole division with 24 victims.

At the halfway point, they are third in the Cheshire County League Division Two table but travel to leaders Widnes on Saturday.

The second XI's fielding effort let them down at home to Cheadle Hulme.

Inserted by the visitors, Brooklands recovered from 70-5 to post a competitive 161-6 thanks to a fantastic 64 not out from Ethan Brooks, supported by Dave Cunliffe's 31.

The fielding effort was not good enough as several chances were spurned, with Cheadle Hulme chasing their target with four overs to spare for the loss of just four wickets.

Qasim Ali (84no) started slowly but got more confident as his innings progressed.

Despite some promising performances, Brooklands are eighth out of 12 at halfway.

The third XI won comfortably against Wilmslow seconds and are in the top five in their division.

Meanwhile, the fourths continued their fine form at Bramhall to remain top.

They batted first and scored 165, Cunliffe scoring 43 with Mark Bloomfield hitting a quickfire 30.

Bramhall were bowled out for 94, Asad Malik earning his upcoming holiday with 4-19 and Anayat Khan taking 2-20 on debut.
