ALTRINCHAM College welcomed the French U20s Rugby World Cup squad for a quick pre-match game on Wednesday June 8.

The school's Year 7 and 9 rugby players were lucky enough to receive a training session from the French giants before their match against Japan at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday June 11.

The team took part in a one hour afternoon session on Wednesday June 8, and shared some of their rugby expertise.

The team posed for photographs with Altrincham College pupils before heading off for a tour of the site.

Dave Birch, head of Altrincham College’s PE Department, said: “I have been delighted with the effort and commitment put in by all the lads involved with Rugby throughout the year.

“They have played and trained tirelessly all year round and to finish the season with a visit from the French Boys was something special. It was fantastic to see our young players sharing the field with some of the best U20 players in world Rugby and we certainly learnt a thing or two that will stand us in good stead for next year. It was a fantastic afternoon.”
