BROOKLANDS' first XI travelled to Lindow in Cheshire County League Division Two and lost by two wickets after being put into bat.

Three early wickets fell for just 20 runs before stabilising innings from Alex Edwards (15), Dave Madden (15), Malkit ‘Chan’ Singh (17) and skipper AJ Hart (24) got the visitors to a respectable 110. The pick of Lindow’s bowlers was Scott Howarth who picked up 3-22 off eight overs.

Brooklands needed to put in a good performance in the field to have any chance of pushing for a win and after reducing Lindow to 50-5, with wickets falling at regular intervals, this looked to be on the cards.

However, they fell just short of bowling the home side out with a number of dropped catches before opener Ryan O’Brien's 72 not out saw Lindow reach 113-8 in 29 overs.

Heroic efforts came from captain Hart, who took an impressive 4-33 off his 11 overs, with Rob Leach continuing to impress after his step up to the first team with 2-17 off just four overs.

The second XI played host to Bowdon on the front square with the away team winning the toss and electing to bat.

A slow start ensued due to some tight bowling from Brooklands openers Tom Mitchell and Tom Lett.

However, Bowdon picked up the pace after drinks with knocks from Robert Shenkman (66) and Hal Dwobeng (34) to end up on 181-7 with Alex Robinson and Tom Lett taking two wickets each.

The batting effort lacked application with spinner George Loup benefitting with seven wickets which saw Bowdon win by 45 runs with only George Storrow (32) and Ethan Brooks (30no) making anywhere near significant contributions.

After facing Haslington seconds away last week, the third XI played host to their thirds on the back square.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the home team found themselves in all sorts of trouble, losing three wickets with barely 20 runs being scored.

A superb partnership from Ross Willard (114 retired) and Matthew Staniforth (54), and a free flowing cameo by Jaydutt Kamath (24) gave the hosts a commanding total of 235-5 declared off just 40 overs.

In reply, Haslington could only manage 143, despite a rather speedy 29 from Wakefield, before being bowled out.

Stand-in skipper Paul Vesey led the charge with 3-30 from his 10 overs ably assisted by youngsters Joe Gill 2-14 and James Hugall 2-8 off just eight balls

Sunday saw the fourth XI travel to Hyde.

Captain Rohin Jairath won the toss and promptly put Hyde into bat.

This turned out to be an inspired decision as spells from Asad Malik (3-19 off five), Rohin Jairath (3-6 off five) and 14 year-old Prithvi Mody (3-29 off five) saw the hosts bowled out for just 77.

Brooklands eased to victory with opener James Robinson deciding to take on the entire home team on his own by smashing a stunning 11 fours on his way to a match winning 57no in just nine overs.

Batting first, Brooklands scored 137-6 in their 20 overs, with Dave Cunliffe reaching the mandatory retirement mark of 40 to be replaced by the hard-hitting James Beck (39no).

Timperley did not compete and scored 55-5 in their 20 overs, Raj Singh (2-2) the main wicket-taker although all the bowlers were tight.
