STRETFORD Cricket Club's first team beat Radcliffe by eight wickets last weekend when six of the club's senior and junior sides all won.

The first team won the toss and inserted the opposition in their Greater Manchester League Division Two clash.

The opening attack of pace man Adrian Holmes and 15-year-old left-arm spinner Muhammad Ahmad picked up regular wickets.

After the Radcliffe opener went for 32 the rest of the batting struggled with Danie Van Schoor and Brad Holmes finishing the innings off despite a slight flurry of runs by the last pair.

Adrian Holmes (4-22), Muhammad (3-43), Danie Van Schoor (2-25) and Brad Holmes (1-13) took the wickets as Radcliffe finished on 109.

Adrian and Brad Holmes opened the batting confidently with Adrian being the first to go for 25.

Brad Holmes was joined by David Roberts (28) and finished on 24 not out with Muhammad on an unbeaten eight as Stretford reached 111-2.

At home the second team bowled Ashton Ladysmith out for 78 with Ben Riddell being the pick of an excellent bowling attack with five wickets.

Stretford did not waste any time getting to the total with Matthew Laker scoring 14 and 15-year-old wicketkeeper Matthew Armstrong scoring a run a ball 57no, finishing the game with a glorious six.

The third team beat Swinton Moorside, bowling the visitors out for 104 before knocking them off with four wickets down. Star of the show was Mark Hutchinson who took 4-6 and scored an unbeaten 46 in the six-wicket victory.

It was a first on Friday evening with two games at the same time on the Lesley Road ground, with the under-13s and u9s beating local rivals South West Manchester.

Then on Sunday morning the u911s defeated Urmston.

This weekend, Stretford's firsts visit Wythenshawe on Saturday in the league and then host First Division Walshaw the following day in the cup.
