STRETFORD Grammar School's under-14 football team has proved itself to be among England’s best by getting through to the national schools’ final

They will play at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium as they bid to win the countrywide English Schools’ FA (ESFA) Under 14 PlayStation® Small Schools’ Trophy.

The school’s Under 14 team will be part of the three-day PlayStation® Schools’ Cup Festival, which runs from May 16 to 18. They will face Shenfield High School, from Brentwood, Essex, on May 17, with the opportunity to be crowned the Under 14 PlayStation Small Schools’ Trophy champions.

It represents an amazing achievement for the team who have entered a national competition for the first time.

Also, due to severe flooding, the team hasn’t played a home game on its own school pitch since a 3-2 second round win against Bury Grammar School back in October last year.

Small Schools’ Trophy tournaments are for schools with fewer than 65 boys on roll in a school year, and helps ensure the PlayStation Schools’ Cup is as accessible as possible for all.

It is the third consecutive year that the Madejski Stadium has played host to the PlayStation Schools’ Cup Festival, which last year saw more than 6,000 spectators attend and watch this feast of schools’ football.

Pupils from Stretford Grammar School have been invited along to the event to support their friends and enjoy a number of activities including PlayStation® 4 gaming experiences, free giveaways, half-time entertainment for spectators and live commentary for each game.
