HARROGATE RAILWAY ATHLETIC 0 TRAFFORD 5

TRAFFORD cruised to victory in their penultimate Evo-Stik First Division North game of the season against a Harrogate side reduced to 10 men after just 12 minutes.

Despite already being relegated, the hosts started brightly with Harry Coates firing inches over in the third minute.

They were desperately unlucky nine minutes later when full-back Simon Parkes was harshly adjudged to have fouled Aaron Burns as the Trafford striker threatened to break clear and was surprisingly shown a red card.

And within a minute the visitors were ahead when Burns' free kick was parried by Chandler Hallwood allowing Connor Martin to pounce on the rebound and net from six yards.

Four minutes later the game was as good as over when Chris Palmer broke down the left and coolly placed the ball past the advancing Hallwood to make it 2-0.

Trafford pushed forward relentlessly and Mitch Duggan almost made it three when he shot straight at Hallwood following a neat move between Martin and Burns

Burns then saw his drive from 20 yards pushed behind and in the 38th minute substitute Liam Davies should have done better but miss-kicked from 12 yards following a Lee Neville cross.

In the 50th minute Burns made it 3-0 when he was unceremoniously tripped by the hapless Hallwood and dusted himself down to crack the resultant penalty into the bottom corner.

Complacency then crept into the Trafford game and Harrogate almost reduced the arrears in the 59th minute when Steve Bromley fired straight at Russ Saunders from 15 yards.

Bromley then just failed to connect with a free kick to the back post before Trafford struck again, Martin feeding Davies who broke clear and coolly clipped the ball past Hallwood.

Mark Derbyshire, Kyle Jacobs and Aaron Burns all went close to increasing Trafford’s lead as they totally dominated proceedings and Derbyshire completed the scoring in the 85th minute when he headed a Jacobs corner just inside the upright.

Trafford’s season comes to an end on Saturday when they travel across the Pennines once again for an encounter with Ossett Albion, kick off 3pm.
