TRAFFORD Schools' Under-14s footballers are celebrating after winning the Blackpool Cup at their age group recently.
The tournament, held at Myerscough College in Preston, saw 120 teams from eight different European countries taking part over the Easter weekend.
And the Trafford boys came out on top after some fine football over the two days.
In the group stages they were unbeaten, winning matches 5-0, 7-1, 2-0 and drawing a fourth 2-2 to progress.
They had a bye in the quarter-finals when their proposed opposition pulled out before a comfortable 5-0 win against a Dutch team in the last four.
They went on to win 4-0 in the final against Irish side St Joseph's to clinch the trophy.
It capped a successful season for the youngsters who have gone further than any Trafford team before in cup competitions.
The players are selected from schools through Trafford borough by the long-established Trafford Schools' Football Association which is coordinated by Ashton on Mersey School.
The team were boosted ahead of the Blackpool Cup win with a new kit supplied by sponsor Mono Fire and Security with tracksuit sponsors Shorrock Trichem and STS Karcher centre also helping the team.
