MANCHESTER Storm endured another miserable weekend with back-to-back defeats against Fife Flyers and Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League.

First up on Saturday was a trip to Scotland and Storm were without captain Matty Davies and Davy Phillips due to injury.

Flyers final took the lead, driving a shot one past Zane Kalemba, who up to that point had been pulling off some incredible saves.

But the visitors came flying out of the traps in the second period and it only took five seconds to level things up, with man of the match Vinny Scarsella netting his 15th goal of the season after some neat passing from Paul Phillips and Matt Sisca.

The Storm then saw a goal waved off by referee Rab Cowan, as he stated the goal was off the moorings.

It spurred Flyers on and they scored twice more on power-plays.

With just over 10 minutes remaining, Storm were back in it when Phillips blasted home.

But within three minutes, Flyers had restored their two-goal lead after to a defensive mix-up by Storm.

Scarsella scored again and it was end-t0-end until Flyers were able to put the game to bed with an empty net goal with just 34 seconds remaining.

The following day, Storm went down 5-2 at home against the Panthers.

Player-coach Omar Pacha put them in front two minutes in after a good back-hand pass by Grant Toulmin.

But the visitors hit back and Chris Lawrence scored twice in a six-minute period.

Storm were back level with 34 seconds remaining on the clock, man of the match Phillips on the scoresheet again.

In the second period, David Clarke to put the Panthers in front again and they upped their game in the final period with two more goals inside four minutes to secure the points.

Storm are at home again on Sunday when they host Fife Flyers, face off 5pm.
