MANCHESTER Storm Ice-Hockey team had a weekend of mixed results with one win and one defeat.

On Saturday, the Altrincham-based outfit triumphed 3-1 against the Fife Flyers.

They had to come from behind after Patrick Cullen put Fife ahead but in the second period Storm took control.

Ricard Birzinsh scored his second goal in two games to level the scores.

They edged ahead with a strike by Matt Paton then Matt Caria took his tally to 12 for the season and wrap up the win.

On Sunday, Storm suffered a 4-2 defeat to Cardiff Devils.

The Devils were first on the scoresheet but the second period saw three unanswered goals from the Devils to send them into a 4-0 lead.

But in the third period, Paton scored his second goal of the weekend after a great pass by Grant Toumlin.

Less than 30 seconds later, Paul Phillips also scored for the Storm, with a rocket of a blast from the point to halve the Devils lead.

However, the Devils played their game plan to near perfection and rallied hard for the remainder of the period.

This week the Manchester Storm welcome the Braehead Clan for the first time on Saturday the 21st at 6:30pm, before taking to the road on Sunday as they head down to take on the Coventry Blaze on the 22nd.
