WHEN it comes to boxing young Sale prospect Sam Hyde is punching above his weight.

The cruiserweight was in the ring at the weekend taking on David Vicenza from the Czech Republic at Bury Leisure Centre.

More than 130 supporters from Sale watched as the young prospect took his professional record to five wins and one draw as the fight was stopped after one minute and 11 seconds.

Hyde said: "It went brilliant apart from being a bit short than I expected.

"We had been working on my shots instead of looking for a knock-out which happened in my last two fights.

"But I caught him with a peach of a body shot and jumped on the chance.

"I wanted to sharpen my skills in front of everybody but I think everyone was impressed my performance.

"It was really good to see so many people from Sale there as Bury is not just around the corner.

"But they were all cheering for me and it was great."

Hyde is trained at the famous Champs Camp in Moss Side by widely respected Ensley Bingham, who himself had an impressive professional career.

He featured in last week's Messenger as he had just signed up with Altrincham-based management company Lindemann Sports and Entertainment Limited.
