THE Rugby World Cup may be over for another four years but the lasting legacy of the competition can be seen at Trafford MV.

The MacPherson Park club have recruited almost 100 new young players with boys and girls from four years old upwards arriving at MV on Sunday mornings at 10.30am to get involved in the game.

On the senior rugby front, Trafford MV's 1st XV are sitting at the top of Lancashire (North) Div One and are currently unbeaten but they have some tough games around the corner.

On Saturday, MV travel to Garstang and the following week (14th) rival contenders Tarleton visit MV's MacPherson Park ground for a crucial battle.

MV winger Chris Eccles should soon return to 1st XV action and he will strengthen MV's title challenge.

Playing at home this weekend are MV's 2nd and 3rd XV who play Fleetwood and Eagle respectively with kick-offs at 2.15pm.

MV are looking for any rugby players in the area looking to get back into the game to call in, watch a drink and have an enjoyable afternoon at the club and discuss playing again (social players welcome).

It is a busy time at MV with a Bonfire Night Fireworks Display and Fire tonight (5th) admission on the gate and you need to check the website for details.

On Nov 14 there is the Autumn Former Players Reunion for players young and old that have turned out for the club but who, for one reason or another, no longer play.

If you know anyone that used to play for Metrovicks or Trafford MV as we are now please give them a nudge and extend our invite to come down pre-match at 1pm.
