TRAFFORD FC boss Tom Baker is looking for a response from his side when they take on mid-table Scarborough on Saturday after the promotion-chasing side suffered a 4-1 defeat to Prescot Cables.

The ex-Halifax player admitted the loss was a bitter pill to swallow as they failed to kill the game off.

He said: "It was one of the most disappointing and frustrating nights since I have been in charge.

"We were scored after three or four minutes through Jack Dorney and we had more chances to put the game beyond them.

"We missed an open net and then also a one-on-one opportunity.

"If we had put those chances away then we would have won but I also thought we were poor at the back.

"I felt we should have come away with a comfortable win but we are not defending well and keeping clean sheets.

"I don't want to take anything away from Prescot as they deserves to get the win."

The Shawe View men have been on an impressive run of form winning four of the last six matches including a 4-2 win against another promotion contender Clitheroe last Saturday.

Goals by Thomas Smith, Phil Dean, Chris McDonagh and newboy Adam Roscoe were enough to seal the victory and move Trafford up to seventh in the Evo-Stik First Division North.

Baker used his Chorley connections to boost the squad with the signing of Roscoe.

He said: "Adam is going to be here for a short time.

"It fits well with him getting game and also with us as we are struggling for numbers in midfield.

"The dual registration with Chorley is good as he is still part of their plans.

"He is a very good player who gets goals and I think is a good acquisition."

Baker is delighted with Trafford's form and admits promotion is a hope for the club.

He said: "We did not have a good start but now we are playing well and are getting results.

"We are just taking it one game at a time and have strengthened the squad.

"You just need to look at results each week every team is picking up points off each other.

"Barring one or two sides who are doing really well, the league is so open.

"We are not going to get carried away with our form."
