SALE secured a third successive home win to move up to 10th place in National League Two North with a 40-30 victory against Luctonians.

The hosts started well taking play into the visitors 22 and from a catch and drive at the lineout Joe Kelly was driven over for a try which Liam McGovern converted.

Straight from the restart Sale were penalised and Luctonians scrum-half Louis Silver kicked a penalty.

The visitors extended their lead when a missed tackle by Sale allowed Will Burton to touch down and again Silver added the extra points.

He then kicked two further penalties to put the Herefordshire side nine points clear but Sale responded quickly.

An inside pass from Jack Moorhouse to John O’Donnell saw the Sale winger race in and five minutes later a storming run by Adam Aigbokhae took play close to the visitors line and from a scrum Rhys Davies crashed over with McGovern adding both conversions.

A long pass by Sale in the final minute of the half was intercepted by Luctonians captain Dan Smith for a try, converted by Silver for a 23-21 lead.

Sale came out strongly in the second half with a fine break by Tom Ailes setting up a Jack Moorhouse try converted by McGovern.

Five minutes later Sam Stelmaszek scored following a break created by Matt Simpson to put them 10 points ahead.

With 15 minutes remaining O’Donnell rounded off a fine Sale move and McGovern again added the extras.

Luctonians scored a try from Morris in the final minutes, which Silver converted but by then Sale had secured maximum points from the match.
