SALE secured their first success of the league season with a 27-18 bonus point win at home to Broadstreet.

In the early minutes Dan Richards kicked two penalties to put the Coventry based side six points ahead, but Sale responded when a quick tap penalty by Sam Stelmaszek forced the Midlands side back into their own 22 and Tom Ailes crossed wide out for the opening try converted by Liam McGovern.

Minutes later Sale secured a line out in the opposition 22 and a long pass across the backs put Ben Gledhill over for Sale’s second try and a 12-6 lead.

Strong running from Tom Davenport was causing problems for the visitors, but despite Sale having the better of possession the score was unchanged at the break.

Six minutes into the second half superb interplay by Chris Mayor, Jack Moorhouse and Ciaran Connolly combined to put the latter in for a try and McGovern added the extras and two minutes later the same player added a penalty for 22-6.

That lead only lasted two minutes as a Sale kick was claimed by Broadstreet and Liam Munro raced in for a try.

Just past the hour mark another charging run from Davenport set up excellent field position and slick passing ended with Aigbokhae scoring a fine try to put the hosts 27-11 ahead.

The visitors again benefited from poor Sale play as another kick into opposition territory went to winger Myles Bean who burst through the home defence and released full back Luke Hibberd to score by the posts with Richards adding the conversion for the final score of the game.

All in all a positive result for Sale gaining their first league points of the season, but still with some issues to work on.
