THE 2015 cricket season closed for Brooklands First XI with a fine one-wicket win in a remarkable game over Widnes which ensured a top half finish in Division Two of the Cheshire County Cricket League.

Brooklands bowled Widnes out for 210 in 42 overs, John Eccleshall (59 not out) guiding Widnes to this competitive score.

Alexander Jordan Hart was again in the wickets as he polished off the tail to take 4-31 and to take his personal wicket haul for the season to 50.

In reply, openers Jack Bagshaw (25 - 506 runs for the season) and Alex Edwards (46) got Brooklands off to a good start before Widnes recovered to have Brooklands 90-5.

However, Hart (69no) came to the fore with the bat this time to steer Brooklands home.

The second XI had a poor finish to the season. Having not won since 25 July, they lost at home to Bowdon to finish in Division One.

Simon Shenkman's 50 was Bowdon's highlight as they scored 165-7 in 43 overs.

Malkit Singh opened the bowling to take 4-44. Brooklands didn't show enough with the bat as they were dismissed for 115 with Finlay Grosfils and Richard Scott both ending with 3-18.
