TRAFFORD FC produced a sparkling display to thrash Harrogate 6-0 and end a run of four successive single goal defeats.

Tom Baker’s side started confidently with Jack Dorney firing wide from 20 yards and referee Parry turning down appeals for a penalty following a push on Chris McDonagh.

The 13th minute proved to be lucky for the hosts when a left wing corner fell invitingly to centre half Danny Lafferty who blasted the ball into the roof of the net from eight yards.

It was all Trafford and visiting goalkeeper Tom Goodwin saved neatly to deny Lee Rick and the dangerous Dorney.

And these two combined superbly in the 26th minute to make it two, Rick slotting home from 20 yards with a crisp drive into the bottom corner.

The game was as good as over in the 39th minute when Trafford winger Phil Dean was tripped after a searing run down the left and Jack Dorney blasted the resultant penalty into the top corner.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Trafford in complete control and on the hour mark Dorney made it four when he cut inside a defender and blasted a great drive from 20 yards into the roof of the net.

Four minutes later an in-swinging free kick by Rick was met by a soaring header by Chris McDonagh into the bottom corner for the powerful striker’s eighth goal of the season.

Harrogate were presented with a rare chance in the 70th minute when substitute Roy Fogarty’s attempted chip was easily collected by Luke Pilling.

But the crowning glory belonged to Trafford substitute Ash Reece who came off the bench in the 84th minute and with his first touch blasted a tremendous drive into the top corner from fully 35 yards to complete the scoring.

Trafford manager Baker was delighted to end the recent dismal run with such an emphatic performance and will be hoping to replicate this form on Saturday when Trafford entertain Spennymoor United at Shawe View, kick off 3pm, and then on Tuesday night when Kendal Town are the visitors for a league fixture kicking off at 7.45 pm.
