AN Altrincham Ice-Hockey team have announced two new signings ready for the season.

Mason Howard may be a new face but is familiar with Altrincham Aces club as he is the nephew of Chris and Simon Mills two names synonymous with the Aces and what they stand for.

Both were huge influences to players growing up at the Devonshire rink and it seems they have had the same effect on Mason.

It's Masons first season as a senior player he was part of the junior system at Altrincham Silver Blades but then took some time out of hockey to focus on his studies and career.

He said: "It may sound a bit cringeworthy but I'm absolutely delighted to be a part of this squad it's a huge honour for me.

"I will take so much pride in wearing that Aces Jersey as both of my uncles have previously sported it.

"I look forward to the challenge ahead and getting the Aces back into that ENL 1 division where we belong."

Howard is a big strong guy who can skate very well and he's not afraid to play physical and will get into the tough areas.

Meanwhile, the Aces have also brought in Tom Gilbert.

He has been part of both Trafford Metros and Manchester Minotaurs and he has been working hard on his overall game during the summer

A spokesman for the club said: "Tom is a big part of this teams soul it's hard to describe how much he means to the team both on and off the ice.

"Tom loves to be a part of Altrincham hockey he is very much a team player who is here for all the guys."
