AN ALTRINCHAM summer rugby league team have just ended their second season with a trophy.

South Trafford Raiders, play between March and August, and the Under-14s took part in the Blackpool 9's tournament.

They won all five pool games to qualify for the final where they had an emphatic, but very hard fought 20-4 win against a very experienced Ince Rose Bridge team from Wigan.

The star of the tournament was Henry Collins who ended the competition with a record haul of eight tries.

However, this was a real team performance from all 11 lads involved and to end the tournament unbeaten against far more experienced rugby teams.

The competition included several playing in higher league divisions which is a real achievement for all the players.

The growing club is in its second competitive year – supporting teams at u12 to u14s level – and has plans to further expand next season.
