BROOKLAND'S first team had a great day in a 55-run win at Northwich.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat on a difficult wicket, things got worse after the loss of Rob Wood in the second ball of the game.

First captain Dave Madden (72*) shared a partnership of 115 with Jack Bagshaw (67).

Quick scores from Emmanuel Parmakellis (26) and Ali Buchan (23*) helped get a decent 211 total.

Two quick wickets then from Alexander Jordan Hart and Parmakellis gave Brooklands the start needed but after 28 overs Northwich were 123-4 and looking very dangerous.

Mark Law had come on to successfully slow the runs along with Raj Singh (2-28) who picked up a key wicket in the 29th over which helped turn the game.

After Law’s effective spell, captain Madden turned to Malkit Singh who rewarded him immediately with two wickets in his first over and the game was very much in Brooklands’ favour.

There were still two wickets to get and Hart (4-35) came back to get the first one helped by a good diving catch from Luke Maitra.

Maitra picked up the final wicket with his fourth ball as Northwich were bowled out for 156, a 55-run victory for the visitors.

The first team were the only senior side to win.

The two home games saw poor results: the second XI batted without application in only setting Grappenhall a total of 156, which the south-east Warrington side knocked off with ease.

The third XI fared worse as they were bowled out for 92 with championship favourites Chester knocking them off three wickets down.

The fourth XI stay top of their league despite a losing draw against Woodford.
