ALTRINCHAM FA will be holding a taster session for all interested in becoming football referees.

The two hour session will be on September 2at Sale United Football Club at 7-30pm to 9-30pm.

The cost will be £20 but there will be no obligation to enrol for the full basic referees course in October.

Lead FA Tutor Stuart Kay said: ‘This will give an opportunity to anyone over 14 years of age to discover what is involved in becoming a football referee. It also gives parents a chance to attend to understand their own involvement such as support and travel to games.

"The Basic Referee Course is not aimed at those simply wanting a GCSE or other qualification but those who want to actually referee. There are better chances of promotion now than ever before and our own Altrincham Select Group Referee Anthony Taylor, who started refereeing at 17, has just been appointed to referee the UEFA under 19 Finals in Greece as well as the Community Shield on August between Chelsea and Arsenal."
