THERE were mixed emotions at the weekend for Timperley CC at the weekend as the first team lost their two matches.

A huge crowd packed out the Stockport Road ground for the arrival of a team of ex-England cricket legends team taking on Timperley on Friday night.

Chris Schofield started brightly for the Professional Cricketers Association team with 22 while Uzman Afzaal starred with 72 and Mark Ramprakash added 42 in their convincing total of 185 in 20 overs.

Chris Page was the pick of the bowlers with 2-23.

In reply, Dan Cooper started brightly with 31 and then Asif Iqbal impressed for Timperley by remaining unbeaten on his way to 91.

A flurry of wickets fell before Dave Howarth put up some resistance with 18.

Unfortunately, Timperley fell 30 runs short of their opponents.

On Saturday, Timperley were knocked off top spot in the Vivio Cheshire Division One after a thrilling final ball defeat to rivals Urmston.

Timperley started steadily with a stand of 42 before Michael Ness fell for 18 to Matthew Parkinson.

A big partnership between Cooper and Iqbal saw Timperley reach 200 off 45 overs.

Urmston had a great start to their innings with the ever reliable Calum Turner (55) and Brad Yates (46) putting on 99 for the first wicket.

With only 127 needed off 25 overs Timperley made in-roads with wickets at regular intervals which included two run outs.

But Kris Dickinson's 38 not out and then Furkan Hassan hitting a six on the final ball to record victory on his way to nine not out.
