STRETFORD produced a much-improved performance despite suffering a 43 run defeat.

The team suffered from a controversial umpiring performance with a major flashpoint in Dukinfields innings where the Stretford fielder took what appeared to be a legitimate catch off the Dukinfield pro, but which neither umpire could confirm.

Stretford started well controlling the Dukinfield innings on another good track at Lesley Road.

Fourteen-year-old Ahmad Muhammad (3-84) and Danie Van Schoor (4-60) were able supported by Ibrar Latif and Munir Khan.

The big talking point was at 60-2 when Kain was given not out.

He then went on to score 95 not out taking 24 off the last over of the innings as Dukinfield finished on 207-7.

In reply, Stretford's innings started superbly as Stephen Green scored an elegant 55 and Chris Sharp 37 putting together a partnership of 81 for the first wicket. Unfortunately, apart from Umer Khan and Munir Khan none of the other batsmen score over 10.

But Stetford came up short finishing on 164.

Next week Stretford have no game with Woodhouses visiting Lesley road the week after.
