BROOKLAND'S first team continued their good league form with a fine 56-run win over Irby.

In-form opener Jack Bagshaw added 36 to his total for the season but the main man was captain Dave Madden.

30-year-old Madden scored 67 batting at three, dropping anchor as his team-mates chipped in with runs around him.

On a difficult pitch, Brooklands overall effort of 170 from 49 overs was more than defendable.

Irby reached 50-1 but Alexander Jordan Hart then bowled Irby's key man Greg Shillinglaw for 35 and ripped through the lower order to end with figures of 16-3-37-7.

Hart received valuable support from Caleb Jones (2-19). Mark Law ended proceedings by bowling Irby's number 11 Cummings with just his third ball to end the innings for 114 in 39.3 overs.

Brooklands have retained their position in fifth in the league but they are only eight points off second-placed Warrington, who they host on Saturday (1pm start) with the potential to take 25 points from the game.

Elsewhere, the second team contrived to lose batting first despite at one point being 79-0 off 14.4 overs.

The third XI were batted out of the game against Oxton 4s who stacked up 340.

The fourth XI retained the position at the top of their league with a tense 6-wicket win over second-placed Bollington.
