TRAFFORD FC's Chris Denham believes the Shawe View management teams experience will put them in good stead for the new season.

The new assistant manager has been meeting regularly with boss Tom Baker to discuss plans for their Evo-Stik First Division North campaign.

Denham, whose CV includes spells at Altrincham and Chorley, is excited about the challenge with Trafford.

He said: "I have had a bad knee and it was taking me a couple of days for it to recover.

"It was making it harder especially with my job as tiler.

"So I decided to knock it on the head at the end of last year.

"I have also had a little baby and was waiting to see what would happen and then it was a great opportunity to work with Tom.

"The position came up and I known him for quite a while.

"We had played together I think at Ashton.

"Tom is someone I trust and we have got a lot of knowledge of the non-league game.

"I have also played in the Conference and we will take something from each of the dressing rooms we have been in.

"Trafford are a good non-league club and they deserve to be in a better league."

Pre-season training starts on June 27 and the 32-year-old cannot wait to work with the players.

He said: "We have got a handful of players who were there last year.

"It is great to start off with an open mind and the lads will be wanting to impress.

"There are a lot of tough games in this league and we also want to add some fresh blood so we have a good squad.

"We (Tom and I) have been discussing plans for the season.

"That includes targetting players and it is great to get our heads together.

"We want to be ready for the season and there are some people we are bringing in to help improve the side."

Denham played for Prestwich Heys last year but among his former clubs include: Stalybridge Celtic, Radcliffe Borough, Droysden, Ashton Athletic, Droysden and Bamber Bridge.
