MANAGER Tom Baker has completed his coaching staff for next season by appointing Dave Andrews as Trafford's goalkeeper coach.

It is the final part of the jigsaw for the ex-Chorley, FC Halifax Town midfielder as he prepared for the new season at Shawe View as Baker brought in ex-Altrincham player Chris Denham as his number two last week.

Andrews has an impressive coaching CV including a 16-year-spell at Stockport County.

Baker said: "Dave is someone who came highly recommended to me by several people who I working with as a player.

"He was at Stockport County and has experience of this level after being at Witton Albion.

"He got promoted with them and is a great experienced man and after meeting him it was a no brainier for me.

"He is very similar to me and is very enthusiastic with similar beliefs as me.

"After I sat down and spoke with Dave I knew he was the man for the job."

Baker believes having a goalkeeping coach will put his shot-stoppers to the test.

He said: "It is something that gets over-looked at this level some people think whether or not having one is important.

"However, I want the goalkeepers to be working away separately from the first-team so they are prepared."

Preparation is a key word for Baker in his first managerial job since hanging up his boots.

"It is great to get stuff together and I have been working with the plans and get started," said Baker.

"I am talking to get players signed up but I know it could take seven or eight weeks because it is a slow process.

"Preparation is the key to what you do and I want to get things in place to have a good start to the season."

With pre-season fixtures lined up against Conference Premier side Altrincham, and Evo-Stik Premier League side Ashton United, Trafford will face tough tests.

He said: "I want to be be successful and last year the players had it tough with the relegation and I want to bounce back to the Evo-Stik Premier League.

"I have got some ambitions and am working to build the best squad to be competitive and enjoy a great season.

"I am looking forward to it.

"We have to be best we can and I will do everything I can including making changes and talk to the lads at the start and half-time to help them."
