STRETFORD first team ended up second best in a five wicket defeat to Thornham after having been inserted on Saturday.

After losing Sharp early Stretford’s innings stuttered along with no batsman appearing to master a slow wicket, as shown as Stretford used up most of their overs.

Ibrar Latif 33 and Bilal butt 25 being the only innings of note.

A disappointing batting performance finishing on 153, although they had the worst of the wicket.

Thornham's openers appeared to have no such problems with a disappointing bowling performance apart from Stephen Green, who was unlucky not pick up more wickets and Munir Khan’s occasional seam taking 3-24.

Thornham's openers put together a 101 stand with Scott going on to make 102 hitting nine sixes.

Stretford’s cause wasn’t helped by a succession of dropped catches.

Stretford are looking for an improved performance next week where they play Stand in the league and Prestwich in the cup.

Elsewhere, the second team put on an excellent bowling performance holding Thornham to 123-9 with Aasim Rafique taking five wickets.

Unfortunately the Stretford batting capitulated to 50 all out.

The club's excellent junior section continues to thrive and the under-11s defeated Ashton on Mersey by 29 runs with the under 13s bowling Dukinfield out for 20.
