SALE'S winning run at the top of National 3 North came to an abrupt as the hosts dominated much of the match scoring points at regular intervals.
An exchange of penalties was the only points in the first quarter although it was the home side that were having the better of the game. Tigers regained the lead on 26 minutes when a flowing move was finished off by scrum half Adam Shaw but the conversion was missed.
Sale struggled to produce much fluent rugby as time and again their handling and passing let them down. Nearing half time the hosts extended their lead when Sale conceded a penalty-try and Wallace added the conversion for a 15-3 lead.
There was little change in the third quarter with the home side having the better of the play side and they extended their lead on 54 minutes with a try from winger Henri Packard after Sale had lost possession and Wallace added the conversion.
Only in the last twenty minutes did Sale start to produce anything like their slick passing with much of the play in the Tigers half. However, time and again opportunities for points went begging as ball retention let them down. With seven minutes remaining centre Steve Walker secured the Tigers fourth try and Wallace added the extras for a well deserved win
