Sale FC 81 Burnage 17

SALE produced rugby of a high quality in this local derby and whilst Burnage scored three tries from their captain James Hodder, it was Sale who dominated the match from start to finish.

Liam McGovern put the hosts ahead on two minutes with a penalty, and it didn’t take long for Sale to amass scores at almost a point a minute. Sam Stelmaszek, Jack Moorhouse, and Adam Aigbokhae scored tries in short order before McGovern darted through for a try and kicked his second conversion of what was to be nine successful kicks, to put Sale 27-0 ahead in even time.

Hodder scored twice for Burnage either side of a Danny Waddy try for Sale, and Chris Mayor and McGovern completed the first half scoring to put Sale 41-10 ahead at the break.

The hosts started the second half as they finished the first with another from Aigbokhae before winger Ciaran Connolly outpaced the Burnage cover to put Sale past fifty points.

Although Hodder claimed his hat-trick just before the hour mark the home side continued apace to score another twenty eight points. A penalty try, and further scores from Tom Davenport, and a second from both Moorhouse and Waddy, all converted by McGovern completed a great performance from the side.
