THE Rugby Sevens action is non-stop this summer with International 7s proving to be a hit of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the game is coming to the home of Sale Sharks.

The Manchester European Sevens, hosted by the Rugby Football Union (RFU), sees England and their Commonwealth rivals, Wales and Scotland line up against some of Europe’s top teams in the Rugby Europe Grand Prix 7s Series at the AJ Bell Stadium.

The event, held over the weekend of September 13 and 14, will see two days of thrilling back-to-back rugby.

With 12 teams taking part, the home nations will face tough competition from Belgium, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Russia and Spain.

As the third leg in the series, the Manchester Sevens follows earlier rounds in Lyon and Moscow, before reaching its conclusion in Bucharest on September 20 and 21.

Despite a disappointing start in Lyon, England were victorious in Moscow after a superb 47-12 win over Portugal and continued their good form with a fifth place finish at the Commonwealth Games.

As they look to re-visit the form that led them to victory in Moscow, the Manchester leg is sure to be an enthralling encounter for home and away fans alike.

AJ Bell Stadium manager, Ruth Steenson said: “The seven-a side game provides the ideal opportunity for the whole family to enjoy some first class sport and we’re particularly looking forward to welcoming all rugby fans, including those who may be new to this fantastic version of the game.

"Everything is in place to make this a truly spectacular weekend, and as always with sport, nobody can predict what will happen.”
