SALE first team travelled to Cheadle for the first game of the 2014 season.

Fielding five new players, Sale were hopeful of starting the season in a positive manner.

Sale captain Keith Wellings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Cheadle got off to a flying start, punishing the wayward Sale attack at every opportunity.

At drinks Cheadle were 124-1. A wicket soon after drinks then brought Dan Brown to the crease.

He was in brutal form, hitting some huge sixes on his way to 103 not out from just 75 balls with seven maximums hit.

Cheadle ended their innings setting Sale an imposing 261 to win.

Sale’s reply never really got going. Losing wickets at regular intervals only four Sale batsmen managed to get into double figures as they were bowled out for 124 inside 30 overs.

Sale will be looking for a much improved performance this weekend at home to newly promoted Timperley.
