AK 1st Team entertained Leigh with a somewhat depleted squad through injuries and unavailabilities.
Despite that AK dominated territory for most of the first half, but were unable to turn their pressure into points.
Two penalties were missed and on one of their few incursions into the AK half, Leigh kicked a penalty to lead 3 – 0 at half time.
In the second half it was Leigh who dominated possession and territory and with ten minutes to go scored a try for an 8 – 0 lead.
AK quickly hit back with a John Geddis try but despite late pressure on the Leigh line, were unable to score again.
The AK second team fared much better with an emphatic 95 – 5 win over Liverpool St Helens, which lifts them up to third place in the Conference League.
On Sunday the pick of the results from the AK Juniors was the Under 13s winning 63 – 0 at Stockport. Tries were scored by Christos Nikou (6), George Wadsworth, Olly Stephenson, Felix Egan and Conor Doherty (2), who also kicked two conversions as did Callum Ramsey.
Next Saturday AK first team are at home to Wirral, kick off 3pm at Stelfox Ave.
