MANCHESTER Phoenix paid the price for missed chances on Sunday night as Peterborough struck a shock overtime winner halting Phoenix’s title charge.

Phantoms forward James Ferrara slid home a messy overtime winner in the 64th minute on Sunday after Phoenix failed to capitalize on a late power-play chance.

Jamie Line gave the visitors the lead in a feisty first period, but Phoenix hit back with goals from Michal Psurny and Richard Bentham to take the lead.

Phoenix’s Tom Duggan then came to blows with Phantoms’ Tom Norton following an altercation in front of the Phantoms net which seemed to spur the visitors on.

Peterborough levelled the scores with a Joe Graham strike midway through the second period but Psurny restored Phoenix’s lead with a power-play bullet before the break.

However, with the game becoming increasingly scrappy and the home side unable to find a killer fourth goal, Phantoms drew level once again through Jeff Glowa sending the game to overtime.

Phoenix applied all the pressure in the extra period looking for the winner, but when the Phantoms broke down the ice following a penalty expiring, Ferrara struck to secure the extra point for the visitors.
