DOUG Craig, a member at Davyhulme Park who is the secretary of the Manchester and District Golf Alliance, is urging officials and players of their 110 member clubs to ensure that they return the entry forms for the huge Summer Inter Club Knock Out competitions.

Doug said: “The entry forms for the Dunham Forest Trophy, City Glass Men’s Foursomes, The Archie Preston Mixed Pairs and the Williams BMW Junior Team Challenge were sent out to all clubs in December.

“The completed forms need to be with me soon so that the draws can be made and sent out to all member clubs.”

Davyhulme Park’s men played a Team of Four Stableford and the old firm of Dave Wood, Steve Chamberlain, Derek Ellams and Dave Higham led in with 83 points well clear of Paul Barton, Dave Potts, John Drinkwater and Peter Murray 78.

Sale’s men played a Team of Four am am and leading in with 50 points were Captain Peter Middleton, Neil Carroll, Dave Grant and Ian Bullough.

They were four clear of Michael and Gary Edwards, David Garnett and Jeff Marland.

Ashton-on-Mersey’s men played a singles Stableford and Alex Turner was an impressive winner with 45 points from Eddie Lindsay 42 and Brian Lewis 40.

Mersey’s ladies were also in Stableford mode with K Kean being a convincing winner with 24 points, six more than E Connor, J Sunderland, M Osler and C Ryder.

The ever-busy William Wroe vets played three singles Stablefords with Eddie Dunne top of the shop in the first one with 40 points, four more than Brian Wilkinson.

Tom Owen took the next with 21 points from Bernard Meagh 20 and Brian Wilkinson emerged from the shadows to win the third with 38 points from Don Tarpey 37 in the third competition.
