AK 1st team entertained Liverpool St Helens who moved to the top of the table following this win.
After LSH took an early 3 – 0 lead through a penalty both sides had opportunities to score but both defences held firm until the 26th minute when the LSH scrum half scored a converted try from close range.
A further penalty gave LSH a 13 – 0 lead but AK finished the half strongly with James Nettleton kicking a penalty to reduce the deficit.
A further penalty from Nettleton in the second half reduced the LSH lead to 13 – 6 as AK started to exert some pressure on the LSH line.
However a high tackle on an AK player, missed by the referee led to LSH breaking away to score another converted try.
Despite being reduced to 14 players due to a sin binning, AK came back again strongly but LSH had the final say with another try in the last minute and 25 – 6 win.
The AK Under 7s, 8s and 12s are all looking to strengthen their squads and would welcome any new players, their parents and potential coaches to the club. If interested contact Anthony Edwards on 07592 769621.
