SALE Men’s hockey Club continued their rich scoring vein with a 7-1 demolition of Chester.
A strong start from Sale was rewarded with goals from MoM Lewis Shaw, Mike Pearce (two), Danny Pratt and George Sterlini for a commanding 5-0 interval lead.
Two lightning attacks straight after the break saw Sterlini net twice to complete his hat-trick and although Chester grabbed a consolation goal it was too little, too late as Sale chalked up a total of 22 goals in their last four games.
But next day they went out of the Cheshire Plate losing 4-3 at Knutsford.
After trailing 2-0 Sale came back with a goal from Neil Blackburn only for Knutsford to extend their lead to 4-1 at the break.
Sterlini and Mike Hoyle netted to give Sale hope but Knutsford clung on with Lyndon Hessing named as the Sale MoM.
Sale seconds lost a close derby clash with Bowdon by 2-1 after losing 1-0 at the interval.
Lionel Robinson struck to equalise but Bowdon had the last word with the winner despite the efforts of Sale stand-in keeper Jamie Ho.
