STRETFORD Victoria Football Club who celebrated their 35th anniversary in September, have netted themselves some new kit.
The community club was founded in 1977 by two football fanatics and now impressively boasts a number of children's teams that cater for all ages, an adult squad and a number of qualified coaches.
To mark the anniversary of the club, local businesses have sponsored new kit for some of the teams.
One of which was Victoria Road Private Day Nursery, Stretford, who were very pleased and willing to help and did so by sponsoring the under 7s and 8s new strips.
Nursery Manager, Sharon Scully, said: “It is great for the children’s welfare and local community, that children in sport are being kept off the streets and in a good society.”
Over the years the club has even produced some household names who have risen through the Stretford ranks to become successful footballer's.
A few of those include John Sheridan who has played for Leeds and Sheffield United and Danny Higginbotham who has played for Manchester United, Sunderland and Stoke City.
