SALE Sharks fans will get the chance to pay tribute to a club legend in his final appearance at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

England international winger Mark Cueto will be hoping to sign off in style in front of a home crowd as he retires at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old has been a one-club man and nothing would be more important for him than to watch the Sharks try to ensure European Champions Cup rugby comes to AJ Bell Stadium.

After Gloucester won the Challenge Cup last week, Steve Diamond's men know they need to finish in sixth to achieve their European target.

But first they must overcome Newcastle Falcons, then win against Exeter and hope for results elsewhere to go their way.

Cueto said: "I have loved it here, there has been huge amount of players in my time and one consistent thing is that it is good set of lads, we work hard and great atmosphere and environment."

The flying winger added he has been proud to stay at Sale throughout his career.

He said: "There has never been any need for me to look elsewhere, I have been loyal to the club and they have been loyal to me and it is becoming a rare situation nowadays as players tend to move clubs these days so it is a great feeling to be finishing as a one-club man."

Cueto, who has made over 300 appearances for the Sharks, believes hanging up the boots will be a strange feeling in a week's time.

He said: "It will be slightly easier because decision has been mine and it has come to a natural end and have been forced to retire through injury but at the same time it is all I have every known and all I have ever done.

"My family and friends are planning to come along to that final game so it will be emotional but it will not be a shock and it has been at the back of my mind for the past couple of weeks."
