PROP Eifion Lewis-Roberts and inside centre Sam Tuitiupou have agreed new two-year deals with Sale Sharks.

The experienced duo have been a key part of a Sale side that is pushing for a second successive top-six finish in the Premiership this season.

Former Welsh international loose head prop Lewis-Roberts, aged 33, – universally known as the Fridge – has a wealth of experience both in the Premiership and from his year spent playing in the Top 14 with Toulon.

Tuitupou, meanwhile, a former All Blacks international, has lived up to his Hacksaw Sam nickname again this term with the 32-year-old unleashing a series of hard tackles and he has formed a potent centre partnership with Johnny Leota.

Steve Diamond said he was delighted the duo had committed their futures to Sale.

"We are delighted that both Eifion and Sammy have agreed their new two year deals," said the Sale director of rugby.

"They are both great lads and key members of our squad and we are delighted they are staying on.

"Eifion is a Sale player through and through. He went to Toulon for one year and played virtually every game over there and he's hardly missed a game for us in the two years since he came back.

"Fridge is a fantastic loyal lad, part of the culture, hard working and a destructive loose head and we are thoroughly glad he's agreed to stay.

"As regards Sammy, for me he's the best close tackling number 12 in the country so for him to agree for another two years is massive for us in my eyes."

Sale are in action in the European Champions Cup on Sunday (3.15pm) away to Munster Rugby looking to bounce back from last weekend's 22-13 home defeat to Clermont Auvergne in the same competition.
