YESTERDAY'S nap, Extraterrestrial was a most unlucky loser. The 9/2 shot was twice halted when making a move before finally getting a run and just failing by a neck to overhaul the eventual winner, Celtic Sultan who had the run of the race.
Hopefully Lady Luck will treat us more kindly today when we go to our local track, Haydock Park for our best bet nomination, which runs in the last at 4.30, a Listed race over 7 furlongs. Welsh Emperor is an old favourite of mine and I'm loathe to desert him, but at 9 years of age Tom Tate's admirable front runner might be vulnerable to a younger rival and the one I like is Brian Meehan's 4-year-old, Diamond Tycoon, who might find this trip more to his liking after tackling 1m 2f last time out.
Selections
Ascot: 3.20 Silver Suitor
Haydock: 4.30 Diamond Tycoon (nap)
Nottingham: 2.25 Pass The Port
Lingfield: 2.40 Ice Queen
Hexham: 3.35 Toy Gun
Warwick: 7.25 Goodbye
Thirsk: 7.10 It's Moon
