YESTERDAY'S nap, Extraterrestrial was a most unlucky loser. The 9/2 shot was twice halted when making a move before finally getting a run and just failing by a neck to overhaul the eventual winner, Celtic Sultan who had the run of the race.
Friday, May 9th
THE Dee Stakes (2.15) and the Ormonde Stakes (2.45) are the feature races at Chester this afternoon and although neither appeals as a great betting medium I do have a sneaky fancy for Henry Cecil's Unnnefer in the former.
Thursday, May 8th
YESTERDAY'S nap was backed down from 5/1 in the morning before doing the business nicely at 9/4 and hopefully we can keep up the winning run today when Chester again stages the most valuable card, with the Chester Vase at 2.45 the feature event. This looks a bit tricky with Sir Michael Stoute, Barry Hills and John Gosden all saddling strong contenders, along with the in-form Aidan O'Brien whose Vivaldi just gets my vote.
Tuesday, May 6th
MAGIC Echo was an impressive course-and-distance winner at Southwell last time out and the 4-year-old can defy a 6lb penalty to repeat the dose today and land the nap.
Monday, May 5th
WE had three winners from six selections on Saturday, including a nice 7/1 shot in Geojimali, so let's hope we can keep up the good work this week.
Saturday, May 3rd
THE first Classic of the season, the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, is the highlight of today's racing and although New Approach is likely to start favourite, it seems every man and his dog is tipping Frankie Dettori's mount, Ibn Khaldun to take the spoils. Personally, I think New Approach is a worthy market-leader and will take all the beating. But for those seeking better value, Stimulation should run a big race at around 14/1, while a real outsider might snatch a place and the one I like is Strike The Deal, currently trading at around 40/1.
Friday, May 2nd
WE notched up our third winning nap of the week yesterday when Topazes obliged at Folkestone and I'll be looking to make it four today when the nomination runs in the 5.10 at Lingfield, a Class 5 handicap over 1 mile 4 furlongs.
Thursday, May 1st
JAMIE Spencer has been in top form this week and he looks to have more solid winner opportunities today with five scheduled mounts at Folkestone this afternoon before heading to Great Leighs for their evening card.
Wednesday, April 30th
WE made it two winning naps out of two for the week so far yesterday when Font scooted in by 5 lengths at a generous 9/2 and we are going for the hat-trick this afternoon when the Mark Johnston-trained Soapy Danger gets the vote in the 3.55 at Ascot.
